Orion New Zealand Limited owns and operates one of the largest electricity distribution networks in New Zealand, covering 8,000 square kilometres in central Canterbury.
Late 2014 Orion sponsored a local event featuring electric vehicles (including international) in racing scenarios at a motor raceway; coinciding with this the company purchased a 100% electric vehicle, a Nissan Leaf, and La Fábrica designed the graphics for application to each side and the rear. Orion continues to add EVs to its fleet, including the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.
The other vehicles in the company fleet are white and in the past featured the company logo in green and black on the driver's door. We were tasked with "refreshing" the vehicle livery, which had moved on to removable magnetic signs, resulting in the solution of reversing the logo out of a black (with company-green outline) elliptical-shaped magnetic sign for the cars.
On the emergency vehicles, 4WD trucks, we stayed with a green-and-black logo on the door, but smaller, and added the black band with green edge along the bottom of the side panels – this ties in with the style and colour treatment of the ellipses on the cars.
